Off Linings Wall Insulation Example

Introducing the CosyWall Off Linings Solution

The CosyWall Off Linings solution offers a modern and efficient way to insulate your home’s walls while the internal linings are off. Current options for retrofitting traditional segment insulation in NZS 4246:2016 are to either install a pan of underlay before adding the insulation or to provide a separation between the back of the cladding and the insulation. An alternative solution to NZS 4246:2016 is the use of a blown-in insulation instead of the traditional segments. This innovative approach simplifies the installation process and provides enhanced thermal efficiency and moisture control for your home.

Designed to meet the standards of NZS 4246:2016, the Off Linings solution works seamlessly with the CosyWall Insulation system, making it easier to retrofit insulation while ensuring long-term performance. It’s a practical and reliable choice for homeowners and builders looking for a superior insulation method that supports a healthier, more energy-efficient home.

Installation process for internal walls.

It’s as easy as one, two, three.

1.

Mesh Installation

To begin, a durable mesh is installed tightly against the external framing, ensuring there are minimal or no edge folds. This allows the blown-in insulation to fill all the wall cavities effectively, streamlining the installation process and improving overall efficiency.

The mesh is securely fixed in place, often using staples or another fastening method suitable for the job. It’s important that the mesh is installed behind any pipes or bracing where possible, and positioned firmly against the external cladding to provide full coverage.

2.

Installing the BIB

Before applying the blown insulation, a barrier must be installed to keep the insulation securely in place within the cavity. This is a key difference from traditional segment insulation, as the barrier ensures the insulation stays properly contained. The barrier is typically installed just before the insulation, effectively sealing off the cavity.

For this process, it’s important to refer to the manufacturer’s guidelines and follow best practices to ensure correct installation. Additionally, all in-cavity work—such as plumbing and wiring—must be completed prior to installing the blown insulation system to avoid any interference with the insulation process.

3.

Installing the Insulation

The final step is the installation of the insulation, which must be carried out by a qualified CosyWall technician to ensure compliance with CodeMark certification requirements. This guarantees that the insulation is installed to the highest standard, fully filling the cavity and providing maximum thermal efficiency. The technician will follow strict guidelines to make sure the insulation performs as intended, helping to create a warmer, more energy-efficient home.
